#32: John Gagliardi, Top-Notch Coach
Very few college football coaches have gone down in history like John Gagliardi. Gagliardi was St. John’s University’s football coach from 1953 to 2012. If you’re shocked by that decades-long tenure, you may find it even more surprising that Gagliardi was 86 when he retired. Now that’s true dedication to the sport!
As head coach at St. John’s, Gagliardi hit many milestones. A notable achievement is becoming the first college football coach to win over 400 games. With a career over 50 years long, that number of wins isn’t surprising. He broke this special record on November 8, 2003, when the Saint John’s Johnnies won their 409th game under Gagliardi’s guidance.
