I’ve had kids my entire adult life, ever since my 21st birthday. That means, my whole adult life, I have not once slept past 8 a.m. In fact, 8 a.m. IS sleeping in for me. When I complained to a friend about the never-ending 6 a.m. wake-ups, they suggested punching bedtime back an hour.

I have never laughed so hard in my life. That’s the last time I will ever turn to a childless friend for parenting advice. People without kids just do not understand how it all works. One day, though, she’ll have kids, and I’ll give her the same advice, so she could have a good laugh.
