#35: Background Actors Slept on Set Due to the Grueling Schedule
The shooting schedule for The Wizard of Oz was so demanding that some background actors, especially those in large group scenes, ended up sleeping on set between takes. Long hours, frequent retakes, and costume changes left them with little time to rest anywhere else, so they curled up wherever space allowed.

Many wore heavy or restrictive costumes that made it difficult to relax, yet they had no choice but to stay nearby in case the crew called them back quickly. Their exhaustion added to the production’s reputation for pushing cast and extras to their limits just to keep the film on track.
