Collectible Vintage Signs from Past Decades, Ranked

Star Motor Oil may not ring a bell like Shell or Texaco, but this 1930s piece makes a collector’s heart race. A clean round porcelain sign with bold navy, red, and ivory hues, it features an oversized star that pulls focus like a full moon on a cloudless night.

The typography is crisp, and the edge wear is minimal — a rarity for signage that likely endured both garage fumes and highway dust. Its scarcity on the collector’s market drives its value, and its perfect symmetry makes it a decorator’s dream. Underdog energy, beautifully preserved.
